We receive no statutory funding from Government or the NHS. Our service is made possible by donations, grants and fundraising.

Health Screening Nurse

Part time OR full time, hours to be agreed

Location: Pulborough

Do you want to make a difference and be part of something special?

The Trust’s health screening service aims to spot the early signs of life-threatening illnesses such as heart disease, diabetes, bowel cancer, prostate cancer and abdominal aortic aneurysm.

We are seeking a part time Registered General Nurse who can work at least one day a week, to join our friendly professional team. Clinics operate on weekday mornings/afternoons. You will be an essential part of our team and be responsible for screening clients effectively using own judgment and initiative to evaluate medical history, current health, and all screening results from the nurse appointment including blood tests and well-being advice.

If you have excellent communication skills, a professional manner and would be committed to providing high quality nursing practice to ensure our clients receive the best possible health screen experience then we want to hear from you.

Person Specification

1. First level NMC Registration, with at least 2 years post registration experience

2. Venepuncture experience preferable

3. ECG experience preferable

4. Interest in health promotion and motivating clients towards a healthy lifestyle

5. IT Skills

6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

7. Good organisational skills

8. Able to work as part of a small team

Trustee

We are an ambitious and committed charity that is looking to grow and develop our impact. This year we are looking to embark on a new strategy which will define our work for the next five years. Our current Chair is due to retire, therefore we are looking for a new Chair to join us and lead our highly committed board that has a wide range of experience and expertise, working in partnership to support and hold to account, challenging the status quo and being our ambassador.

As our new Chair, you will bring experience of strong governance, vision, strategic leadership, and how to grow  organisations. Together with the Board of Trustees and the Chief Executive you will be committed to developing our mission and supporting us as we embark on our  5-year strategy. Most importantly, our new Chair will be a key advocate for The Mary How Trust’s strategy and values and passionate about empowering and communicating  the fact that health screening saves lives.

We expect the time commitment to be (between 7 and 10 hours) a month, this is inclusive of reading board papers, preparation for board meetings, collaborating with our Chief Executive, liaising with our Board members and attending events throughout the year.

Volunteer

As a Mary How Trust volunteer, you’ll meet wonderful people – and your time will help give people a brighter future. We have many volunteer roles, something to suit everyone.

Events Volunteers help plan our events and ensure they run smoothly. Would you like to help us organise an event? Can you help find sponsors and raffles prizes? Or could you just give a few hours on the day itself?

Coffee Mornings, Charity bag sales/car boots, Cricket matches, dinner dance, Splat and chat, auctions, fetes and more! The possibilities for fund raising are endless.

Shop volunteers help in our Charity shop and are a big part of the community.

Office volunteers help out in the Clinic, administration and reception duties.
